Bilingual Mediation

Language should not be a barrier to an effective resolution of a legal dispute or conflict.

In cases involving Spanish-speaking parties, it is very important to understand how language and cultural barriers can interfere with the successful resolution of a case during mediation. As a bilingual mediator I make sure that all participants can effectively communicate in a safe and comfortable atmosphere lessening cultural or language barriers.

Miscommunication and misunderstanding are two of the biggest obstacles in mediation. These can be amplified when using an interpreter, regardless of how skilled the interpreter is. A qualified interpreter can be costly. Additionally, because the interpreter must listen, process, and then convey what was said, the communication is much slower and sometimes interrupted.

As a result, in addition to the inherent comfort of having a mediator who speaks your preferred language, the mediation will be more expedient and cost-effective.
